Humanitarian Awards

Brianna Fijal Mazze
2023 Humanitarian Award

Brianna recalls as a child delivering meals on wheels with her mom, adopting shelter cats with a few too many toes, and regularly caring for wild animals—including hand feeding skunks. Giving back to the community and supporting wildlife has always been second nature to her. According to Brianna, “It just feels good to do good things. “

Despite expectations that she would follow a career path into veterinary medicine, her journey has been very corporate. After college she came across the most unique and exhilarating job working with an international
asset recovery team in a money laundering and breach of trust lawsuit. The case stemmed from the Panama Papers where millions of legal documents were leaked revealing crime, corruption, and corporate secrets. She worked with some of the most highly regarded
attorneys and learned so much about governance, legal research, and complex corporate compliance. This opportunity accelerated her career in compliance, allowing her to work in several areas of regulatory affairs.

When she came to St Regis Group approximately three years ago, she had made the decision to leave the world of anti-money laundering and closer align herself with a corporate career and personal values. St Regis
Group empowered her to lean into her sustainable lifestyle and bring environmental practices and social impacts to a company that emphasizes being a good corporate citizen. From facilitating regular in-kind donations to reducing its carbon footprint, it has
fulfilled Brianna by increasing her ESG knowledge and developing initiatives like the Community Care Kit program.
Brianna is completing an MBA in Risk Management with a focus in sustainability and ethics. She is currently writing her thesis on the sustainable advantages of underpopulation.

Beyond her professional life, she considers herself an advocate for all things animal, human, and earth related. She has volunteered with so many great organizations such as Dog Tales, the Inuit Outreach Project,
Toronto Home Retrofits, several humane societies, and her most treasured commitment: serving as a Board Member for Save Our Scruff. Brianna has made meaningful connections with exceptional individuals and animals who have enriched her life in a profoundly
positive and successful way.

For Brianna, volunteering her time, knowledge, and resources fulfills her soul. It’s worth more than money and the impact goes far beyond her own sphere. It’s a reminder that the act of giving is not a burden but
a gift, and it’s a privilege to contribute to a meaningful legacy.

Nominee Verification

The nominee does not have to be aware of your nomination. You will be asked to confirm whether or not they know in your nomination.

Procedure for Election

Nominations received before the deadline will be screened by the H.O. Judging Coordinator to eliminate ineligible individuals or incomplete nomination forms. The nominator must ensure that accurate dates and information are entered to support the nominee’s activities for verification. After verification, nominations will be forwarded to PPPC’s Hall of Fame Committee (members of the Hall of Fame) who will evaluate each candidate based on the information submitted.

Results are submitted in confidence to the Judging Coordinator and cannot be shared or divulged.

Following the consensus of the majority of Hall of Fame Committee Members, the Chair of the Hall of Fame Committee will notify the PPPC Judging Coordinator of the Committee’s final candidate selection for the Humanitarian Award. Candidates who meet the qualification criteria but who are not selected will automatically be re-entered for the next two years (a total of three years). After that period of time, if the individual has not been selected, he or she must be nominated again before they will be reconsidered.

THE DECISION OF THE COMMITTEE IS FINAL AND CANNOT BE REVOKED.
